- If you belong to the group of Costa Ricans from “older generations,” you will definitely remember many similar anecdotes that will take you back to those times. If you are part of “younger generations” of people with jeans as uniform, you will know how most of the kiddos used to live and think back then. The twentieth century, with the railroads working, the impacts of the II World War, the Social Guarantees and the Costa Rican Revolution in 1948, marked the lives of the kids of that time.
Only a small part of the country’s current population underwent these experiences. One of them was Paquillo Villatoro, known as Yigüirrin, who, in spite of having studied for only two years in one of the seven high schools available in the country at the time, tells us his stories during the first fifty years of this century.

- Si usted pertenece a los ticos de la Vieja Guardia, sin duda recordará muchas anécdotas similares que le harán revivir esos tiempos. Si es de la Nueva Generación uniformada con los jeans, conocerá como vivíamos y pensábamos la gran mayoría de los carajillos de entonces. El pasado siglo veinte con la operación de los Ferrocarriles, los efectos de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, las Garantías Sociales y La Revolución del 48, dejó grandes huellas en la mente de los chiquillos de esa época.
Sólo una pequeña parte de la actual población del país vivió esas experiencias, entre ellos Paquillo Villatoro, alias Yigüirrin, quien, a pesar de haber cursado sólo dos años en uno de los siete colegios de secundaria con que entonces contaba el país, nos cuenta sus historias en los primeros cincuenta años de ese siglo.
